To design and produce faster sails in this day and age one needs a proven CAD design system, I use a sailplotter from New Zealand combined with its powerful sail design software for my designing and sail making. Grounded experience in traditional sail making techniques allows me to produce fast and accurate sails, and combined with CAD software and plotter enables me to accurately reproduce fast sail designs, and, importantly - the chance to update individual panels or a complete sail and save them efficiently, a huge benefit compared to the past where we produced sails using monofilm templates and had to store them and modify them by hand to make improvements.
